P R I V A T E   L E S S O N S



Private lessons are offered in piano, voice, and academic subjects (theory, music history, etc.)  

Typically, lessons are taught on a weekly basis, in English or in French.   



Payment is due on the first lesson of the term and can be made in the form of five post-dated monthly cheques, or for the five-month term in full.

The following rates apply when a single student signs up for weekly private instruction in piano, voice, or theory.  Payment amount is calculated based on the number of lessons in the term.

* 30-min. lessons:  $37 each

* 45-min. lessons:  $48 each

* 60-min. lessons:  $57 each

The following hourly rates apply when two members of the same family sign up for private instruction in piano, voice, and/or theory, or students attend more than one lesson per week.  Payment amount is calculated based on the total number of hours of instruction in the term.

60+ minutes of instruction per week:  $65 per hour​

90+ minutes of instruction per week:  $60 per hour

 

G R O U P   C L A S S E S

Group classes are available in all disciplines, as well as vocal and instrumental chamber music.  Please enquire about rates and availability.



 

C O L L A B O R A T I V E   P I A N I S T  /  A C C O M P A N Y I N G

 

Exam / festival coaching and accompanying are available to all non-pianists in need of these services, regardless of whether they are already affiliated with Serenade.

Coaching / Rehearsal  - hourly, at Serenade studio:  $60, or $35 per student when group consists of two or more 

Coaching / Rehearsal - hourly, elsewhere:  $70, or $40 per student when group consists of two or more 

Exam, Festival, or other type of student performance - up to Grade 6 level:  $75 for single piece, $25 for each additional*

Exam, Festival, or other type of student performance - Grades 7 and 8:  $110  for single piece, $30 for each additional* 

Exam, Festival, or other type of student performance - Grades 9 and 10:  $135 for single piece, $35 for each additional*

High school musical event accompaniment - Rehearsals: hourly, at the school, $60.  Performance fee, hourly, $100.*  

High school musicals - Project rates available for larger productions and longer runs.  

*All fees include travel within Toronto, and arriving on site 30 minutes prior to the event for final rehearsal.  A small fee may be added to the total to compensate for travel expenses to an out-of-town event.  A discounted rate may apply when three or more rehearsals and/or two or more events are booked.   Performance fees are approximate, and may be altered to reflect the number of pieces to be learned and the amount of time required for the pianist to adequately prepare.



 

P A Y M E N T   P O L I C Y
Payment is due ON or BEFORE the first lesson. 
You must pay for the term (or the remainder of the term) in full, either in a single payment (e-transfer, cash or cheque), or in a series of monthly cheques, each dated the FIRST OF THE MONTH.  
Payment for accompanying services is due upon the final rehearsal.

C A N C E L L A T I O N   P O L I C Y

Students are required to give 24 hours’ notice if they wish to reschedule a lesson, except in the case of accident or sudden illness.  No-shows and lessons cancelled without sufficient notice will not be rescheduled.  Students may reschedule up to THREE lessons in a term, but must complete their make-up lessons before the end of that same term or they are forfeit.  Make-up lessons will not be carried over into subsequent terms, not even summer!

I L L N E S S   A N D   L I C E   P O L I C Y
Please note that Serenade has a strict policy with regard to all things contagious, from colds to lice.  Besides the fact that no one wants to play when they don’t feel well, such things spread like wild-fire in the studio environment.  So please don’t hesitate to cancel your / your child’s lesson: even a last minute cancellation will entitle you to a make-up lesson in such an instance.  The teacher and all her other students thank you for your cooperation.
